SEWING BOT!
Can you imagine a robot sewing a garment or a product on its own?
And isn't it interesting how there is a revolutionary change in the Apparel and Textile Industry using robotics?
Well, Softwear Automations invented a robot sewing a full garment, want to know more about it?
So here you go!
The advanced technologies used by Softwear Automation, American based company with the collaboration of Georgia Tech's Advanced Technology Department, introduces the use of robotics to complete a garment from the initial stage of sewing, till the final stage carrying out the operations such as spreading the fabric, cutting, sewing and finishing a garment and other products.
Sew Bot is defined as sewing robots which is a combination of computer vision and robotics which works as a fully automated work-line built to scale and sew garments with the help of robots and bots installed based on programming and sew data saved in Gerber's Accumark files (a pattern design software) which detects the distortions and robotically adjusts the fabric and carries out each task including cutting, attaching a sleeve and quality check inspection.
The sew bot performs the operations in a very organised and coherent manner maximizing the rate of productivity in the manufacturing unit, having the capability of producing over 1.2 million T-shirts a year. It takes 4-5 minutes to construct a garment which saves plenty amount of time
The bots installed in the unit works at the same efficiency as of a human and can perform the work of 8-10 operators on one go which implies on replacing the usage of operators/labours for the process to the bots and minimizing the expenditure.
And as the brand has started it will continue to grow and in upcoming years who knows maybe robotics will take over the whole industry, isn't it so cool and scary at the same time!
