TRANSFORMING T-SHIRT INTO SKIRT AND TOP

Hello Everyone, hope everyone's safe, healthy and enjoying the Lockdown period, which is not  locking down people anymore!

I have some new content to share with you all, as I have been inactive on BlogSpot for some time now, but during that time I was learning and improving my stitching skills, and have been a lot more productive.

Well, We all know that almost everyone's using Social media these days and are highly active on Instagram scrolling all kinds of different content all day such as Reels, funny memes, etc.

I used to do the same, and one day, I came across this reel on Instagram which was highly creative and interesting showing how to transform your Old Oversized T-shirt into a Skirt and Top!

 Doesn't it sound so cool?

Also, it's a great way of upcycling the garments, which are not in use and we can totally re-use them in a different way. So, I got so motivated and starting searching my mom's closet and finally got a really cute Bubblegum Pink colored Oversized T-shirt.

I got so excited on working on my DIY project and started working on it, but as I have learned during the time of my course that before making the final sample, we make different types of sample such as prototype, fit, photoshoot etc.

So, I had 1-2 extra T-shirts which were not in use and I worked on them first, by which I got an idea about these following things:

  • Proper Measurements
  • Making the final sample with/without sleeves
  • Adjusting the measurements of the Skirt and top
The first sample which I made was really cool but the top was really short and skirt came out really perfect, by which I got an idea of how much I need to measure.

Then I started working on my actual and final T-shirt.

FOR CUTTING

Measurements:
  •  Top to waist = 14.5/15 (in inches)
  •  Waist to hem = 14/14.5( in inches)
  • Skirt waist = 28 (in inches)

I cut it according to the measurements, and took the sleeves out from both the sides, as we need to then re-size the sleeves , It's totally optional to re-stitch the sleeves as I didn't do that.

After cutting the pieces we just need to stitch the side seams according to the measurements and doing the hemming in the end for the finished look.

And after that the Final product is ready to wear!

I hope you all like the content and the idea, and you all can also try this at your home, this is super easy and fun to make!
